The Committee to Save our Baseball Tradition was formed
with the mission of fostering community support for the
rebuilding of Ed Smith Stadium and the Sports Complex ,
and the ultimate goal of getting out the "yes" vote for the
stadium bond referendum on November 6.
The Committee’s leadership council, chaired by Coach
Eddie Howell, a recently retired Sarasota High School
administrator, includes John Saputo, Gold Coast Eagle
Distributing; Mel Klein, Florida Power and Light; Kathy
Baylis, Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota
County; Del Borgsdorf, Greater Sarasota Chamber of
Commerce; Virginia Haley, Sarasota Convention & Visitors
Bureau; Alex Young, United Way; Kerry Kirschner, Argus
Foundation; and Nicole Rissler, Sarasota Area Sports
Authority.
